Oh, the infamous December 10th, 1989 Cincinnati-Seattle game. With tensions already high among Cincy fans as the two teams were tied late into the second half, a rough call from the refs during a game-defining Seattle drive ignited Riverfront Stadium.
Queen City fans grabbed at whatever they could, including the making of snowballs, and launched debris at the opposing team before Cincy coach Sam Wyche took charge of the situation and seized the mic from public address announcer Tom Kinder. Appealing to Cincinnati fans’ better nature–and deep, abiding hatred of Cleveland—Wyche announced, “Will the next person that sees ANYBODY throw anything onto this field, point ‘em out…and get ‘em out of here. You don’t live in Cleveland, you live in Cincinnati!”
